Harley-Davidson produces many of their own custom parts in-house.
The Harley-Davidson V-Rod is one of the new generation of motorcycles produced by Harley-Davidson to answer consumer complaints that Harley was not keeping pace with other manufacturers. This doesn’t mean, however, that the V-Rod forgoes Harley-Davidson’s legendary ability to allow riders to customize their rides. The V-Rod features loads of aftermarket parts that can be installed in just a few hours.
1. Install a passenger backrest on the V-Rod. This is done by first removing the passenger seat and then bolting the backrest into place. This improves passenger comfort as well as safety.
2. Remove the stock seat and install an upgraded Harley-Davidson seat. A variety of specialty leather seats are available that look good and are also comfortable to ride on. Choose a seat produced by Harley-Davidson to retain the build quality of the original seat.
3. Install heated hand grips in place of the stock V-Rod grips. Original V-Rod grips are fine on warm days, but when the temperature falls, heated grips are the way to go. Harley-Davidson produces their own line of custom heated grips that are easy to install and are covered by Harley-Davidson’s warranty.
4. Install a windshield on the handlebars of the V-Rod. Windshields provide protection from rocks and bugs on the road, as well as reducing the amount of wind buffeting you experience while riding. Harley-Davidson’s custom V-Rod windshields fit perfectly and install using basic hand tools.
