KERA is an award-winning public television station reaching 2.5 million people in north Texas. It is affiliated with a television station with the same call letters. It features news and shows from National Public Radio and the British Broadcasting Corp. as well as locally produced content. Live streaming of the station is accessible from the KERA website. KSOC is more popularly known as K-Soul in the Dallas Metroplex. The station bills itself as “the soul of DFW” because it plays classic and contemporary R&B. The station is popular among internationally-known R&B artists as the celebrities are frequent guests on KSOC programs and perform at concerts sponsored by station. KSOC airs two popular syndicated shows among African Americans: “The Tom Joyner Morning Show” and “The Michael Baisden Show.” The station is also streamed online. The station is owned by urban media conglomerate Radio One.

KSCS is a country music station that bills itself as “The Texas Original.” After undergoing several name changes since it was founded in 1949, it became KSCS in 1973. KSCS hosts “The Dorsey Gang,” one of the longest running morning shows in the area. The show is run by the award-winning duo of Terry Dorsey and Mark Louis. KSCS sponsors concerts in Dallas featuring popular country musicians who are also frequent guests on the station’s shows. The station is also streamed online. The station is owned by Citadel Broadcasting.

KHKS, more popularly known in the Dallas area as KISS FM, plays top 40 pop. It also has a slate of shows including the morning program “Kidd Kraddick in the Morning” hosted by nationally-known radio personality Kidd Kraddick. The show is syndicated in radio markets around the country. KISS FM runs frequent contests for tickets to concerts. The station is also streamed online. KISS FM is owned by broadcasting company Clear Channel Communications.
