The King Abdul Aziz University is located in Jeddah, the second-largest city in Saudi Arabia. Primarily serving western Saudi Arabia, the university was established in 1968 and is named for the first king of Saudi Arabia. (King Abdul Aziz established Saudi Arabia in 1902.) It is a government school, as opposed to one of the country’s few private schools. King Faisal University (KFU), another government school, was established in 1975 and offers graduate and post-graduate degrees to medical students. KFU resulted from the combination of four schools: the College of Foods & Agricultural Sciences, the College of Veterinary Medicine & Animal Resources, the College of Medicine & Medical Sciences and the College of Architecture & Planning.
