Motorcycle Technology Schools

Motorcycle technicians work to build and repair motorcycles.

Graduates from a motorcycle technology program may act as a motorcycle technologist or mechanic for a dealership or private shop, work as a parts representative or work in motorcycle assembly. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, in 2008 the median wages for automotive technicians, including motorcycle technicians, was $16.88 per hour.

WyoTech

WyoTech, formerly known as Wyoming Technical Institute, has a motorcycle technology program available at the Daytona, Florida, and Fremont, California, campuses. Students in the motorcycle technology program will study the basics of the motorcycle mechanics including brake, suspension and electrical systems, both in the classroom and with hands-on-experience. Students may also choose an area of specialization in Harley-Davidson, Asian or European motorcycles.

Universal Technical Institute

Universal Technical Institute offers a Motorcycle Technology Training Program at the Phoenix, Arizona, and Orlando, Florida campuses. Students will learn in the classroom and gain hands-on-experience with all aspects of motorcycle technology, including fuel and electrical systems and engine operations. Students will then take specialized courses in the manufacturer of their choice. Options include Harley-Davidson, BMW and Kawasaki. Graduates also receive a set of Snap-on Tools.

YTI Career Institute

YTI Career Institute offers a motorcycle technology program at the campus in York, Pennsylvania. Students will gain hands on experience in the center that includes 16 service bays and diagnostic equipment. Students gain experience on several different bikes including Harley-Davidson, Honda, Suzuki and Buell. In addition to learning about motorcycle technology, students will take courses in working relations and career development to help them succeed after graduation.
